Community Code of Conduct

Last reviewed: 2026-07-25

This code applies to everyone taking part in Octopus Foundation community spaces, online and in person. It exists so that participation is safe, respectful and inclusive.

Expected behaviour

Be respectful and considerate. Assume good faith. Make space for others, especially people with lived experience of the issues we work on. Respect consent, privacy and boundaries. Give and accept feedback graciously.

Unacceptable behaviour

Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, demeaning language, sharing others' private information, and any conduct that makes the community unsafe are not tolerated.

Safeguarding

We take particular care where work involves vulnerable people or communities. Participation is always on the community's terms, and no one is treated as a test subject.

Reporting a concern

If you experience or witness a breach, please contact us using the details on our contact page. Reports are handled seriously, promptly and as confidentially as possible. Responses are proportionate and may range from a private conversation to removal from community spaces. We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith.
